Why Sexual Activity Is Strictly Restricted After the Himplant Procedure

Men undergoing the Himplant procedure are understandably excited about the outcomes of increased confidence, improved aesthetics and a powerful sense of self in and out of the bedroom. Our patients are obviously excited to use their enhanced anatomy and invariably ask:

How long after Himplant surgery can I start having sex?

Eight Weeks. No Exceptions.

For eight full weeks after your Himplant procedure, there is a strict prohibition on:

• Intercourse
• Masturbation
• Oral sex
• Any sexual stimulation involving the penis

Why Sexual Activity Risks the Outcome

Early sexual activity may lead to numerous risks that ultimately compromise the outcome:

• Creates tension on tight, healing skin with resulting lacerations. Penile lacerations over an implant will not heal. No amount of glue or suture will keep the skin together.
• Introduces friction between implant and tissue increasing the risk of seroma formation.
• Introduces bacteria to the scrotal incision
• Early exertion can provoke an early postoperative bleeding requiring a return to the OR.
• Disrupts the position of the implant prior to capsule formation

What Happens After 8 Weeks?

All patients undergo an evaluation at 8 weeks involving either an in-person visit or virtual visit with photos. While most patients are cleared for sexual activity at 8 weeks they must exercise precaution initially as the penile skin may remain relatively tight in the early phases and partners need to adjust to the significant size change.

Recommended initial precautions include:

• Lubrication
• Condoms
• Limited duration sessions
