WHAT IS MICROSURGICAL CREMASTER MUSCLE RELEASE?

The cremaster muscle is a thin muscle layer that surrounds the spermatic cord and testicle in men. Involuntary contraction of the muscle pulls the testicle up toward the groin while relaxation of the muscle allows the testicle to freely rest within the scrotum. Many men suffer from an overactive or tense cremaster muscle that leads to high riding testicles or uncomfortable retraction of the testicles into the groin during exercise and sex. Microsurgical release of the cremaster muscle involves the careful division of the muscle using delicate microsurgical technique under magnification to allow the testicles to sit in a comfortable and relaxed position within the scrotum.

High Riding Testicles: Some men have testicles that sit high in the scrotum at all times. This condition may cause discomfort during certain activities and often interferes with common sexual positions. In many cases, this condition may be caused by an overactive or overly tense cremaster muscle.
Uncomfortable Retractile Testicles: During sex and other vigorous activities the testicles may ride up into the groin with significant associated discomfort. This condition - known as retractile testicles - is due to an overactive or overly tense cremaster muscle. Following the procedure many men are able to enjoy sex without discomfort or worry for the first time in their lives.
Cosmetic Preference: Many men chose to undergo this procedure in order to achieve their preferred appearance of lower hanging, free-swinging testicles that provide a particularly masculine look and satisfying “slap” during sex.

MICROSURGICAL CREMASTER RELEASE PROCEDURE

After an initial evaluation our surgical coordinator will help arrange for travel, pre-operative evaluations, surgical scheduling, and post-operative assistance as needed. The procedure is performed under anesthesia at a world-class surgery center staffed exclusively by board-certified anesthesiologists in South Miami. The procedure involves either one or two small groin incisions (depending on whether a patient requires release of a single side or both sides). In general, the procedure takes around 1 hour. At the end of the procedure the incisions are closed with a surgical glue that will slowly flake off during the weeks following surgery.

LIGHT ACTIVITY MAY BE RESUMED A FEW DAYS AFTER SURGERY

Following surgery patients may return home or to a hotel to rest. If a friend or family member is not available to accompany you after surgery, the clinic can arrange for a professional nursing service to provide transportation and attentive care after surgery. Tight underwear or a jock supporter must be worn for at least two weeks. Light activity may be resumed a few days after surgery; however, exercise, sex, and heavy lifting must be avoided until cleared by our team.
